Only very small gripe is, Brian tries too hard to be self deprecating and at playing down the fact, he was one of Ireland s greatest rugby players.
Modest to a fault, Brian We know different.
Very engaging book, well written and a very honest and interesting insight into the highs and lows of BODs career

I read this book with some apprehension O Driscoll himself said compared to Keane and Pierersen it would read like Enid Blyton Paul Kimmage a celebrated writer had left the project after two years and with press over hue years O Driscoll has shown the same defence that made him such an incredible rugby player.
If you are looking for revelations and slurs, you won t find them anywhere, apart from slight hints of annoyance at the IRFU The book excels in portraying his character Humorous and very self depreciating, O Driscoll describes his struggles with weight, bad eyesight and insecurities He maintained his place at the top of world rugby in spite of a large number of setbacks being dropped twice from his school team as an erratic out half and then l Simply, the Test tells BOD s story with lots of little anecdotes that are funny and combine to show what makes him tick Some demons that trouble him later in his career are exposed No major insights but perhaps he s just a simple guy who loves rugby his family and going for a few pints.
I can t help wondering what the Paul Kimage book would have looked like after they did so much work together but Kimage, gifted writer as he is, is a gobs e and probably very hard to work with.
